How to get a custom football kit quote: what to prepare

September 23, 2026

Getting a custom football kit quote is simpler than most clubs expect. You describe what you want. A person prices it. Nothing is made until you confirm. Here is exactly what to prepare and what happens at each stage.

Why the quote stage matters

A configurator skips the quote. You pick colours from a dropdown, add a name, and check out. The price is fixed because the product is fixed.

A handmade commission works differently. The price reflects your actual design: the badge complexity, the collar detail, the number of shirts, your deadline. That is why a proper brief matters. The cleaner the information you send, the faster and more accurate the quote you get back.

Most clubs that contact Own Kit come in with a rough idea and refine it over one or two messages. That is fine. You do not need final artwork before you reach out. But the more you have ready, the quicker the process moves.

What to prepare before you request a quote

Work through these five points before you fill in the brief:

  1. Number of shirts. The squad quote page requires a minimum of five shirts. Think through your squad size before you reach out.
  2. Colorway. Primary and secondary colours. Reference a club you like the look of, send a hex code, or describe it in plain language. Amber and navy. Green and white hoops. We can sketch options if you are still deciding.
  3. Badge or crest. If you have artwork, send the file. If you want us to sketch something from a description, say that. No badge at all is also fine.
  4. Name, number, font. Standard back placement is most common. Some commissions use sleeve numbers or a specific typeface. Tell us what you want.
  5. Deadline. A season start or a cup fixture changes everything. Give us the date and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

That is the brief. Five things. You do not need a design degree or a mood board. Plain language works.

How the quote process works at Own Kit

Get a quote by filling in the brief on the quote page. Tell us the club name, the number of shirts, the design idea, and the timeline. Attach any reference images that show the kind of thing you are after.

We review every brief within 24 hours. We may come back with a question before we price. Once we understand the design, you get a price built around your specific request. No payment at the quote stage. The quote is free.

After you confirm the design, production starts. The /quote page states production takes three working days from an approved mockup; shipping time across Europe adds to that depending on your location. If the date matters, put it in the brief.

What does a custom football kit actually cost?

Mass-market configurators start at £19.50 per shirt (excluding VAT, according to Decathlon MyClub). Stock cut, stock template, made at volume.

Own Kit shirts run from €110 to €180 per shirt, depending on the product and the design.

ProductPriceWhat it covers
The Street€110Clean colorway, name and number, standard cut
The Classic€120Classic cut, badge up to four colours, full personalisation
The Terrace€130Terrace-style cut, collar detail, badge work included
The Commission€180Fully bespoke: complex badge, unusual fabric, multi-element design

These are per-shirt prices. Minimum order is five shirts. Each shirt is made individually by hand, so a run of twelve is twelve handmade shirts, not a batch off a factory line.

If you are a club admin working to a budget, put the number of shirts and a rough design idea in the brief. We will come back with a price that fits what you actually need.

What the price difference buys

A factory shirt is made at volume, on a fixed template, with no adjustment for your badge or your proportions. If you want the crest lower, that option is not on the menu.

A handmade shirt is made once, for you. The colorway exists because you described it. The badge is where you put it. The collar is the one you chose.

Durability matters too. Heat-pressed numbers on cheap polyester peel after a season of washing. Stitched work on quality fabric holds far longer. Over the life of the shirt, the price difference is smaller than it looks on day one.

Every shirt leaves here as a one-off. Nobody else has it.
